Building a 167-unit apartment complex in downtown Downers Grove, Illinois, presented several design and production challenges. The short construction deadline demanded building materials that could be produced and installed quickly, and the site layout and limited street access required the erection of a tower crane on top of the podium to build the residential floors above the parking structure. Hollowcore plank, insulated wall panels, columns, beams, and slabs were specified for their unmatched strength, design flexibility, and ability to accelerate the construction process. Careful coordination of product deliveries ensured the timely completion of the project.
