Girls on the Run (GOTR) Southeastern Wisconsin equips young girls with essential life skills through research-based programming that combines physical activity with lessons in managing emotions, resolving conflict, helping others, fostering friendships, and making intentional decisions.
GOTR offers multiple programs tailored to each age group:
- Girls on the Run: Supports 3rd-5th grade girls in building self‑confidence and a sense of belonging. Each season concludes with a Community Impact Project and a celebratory 5K, giving participants a tangible sense of achievement and helping set a confident mindset into motion.
- Heart & Sole: Designed for 6th-8th grade girls, this program takes a holistic approach to emotional exploration, empathy development, and strengthening both physical and emotional well‑being.
- Junior Coach: Engages teens ages 16-18 in leadership development, community building, and meaningful mentorship as they support teams as GOTR coaches.
Each curriculum is research‑based and structured to help girls understand themselves, build strong relationships and teamwork skills, and recognize their ability to positively shape their future.
Our Impact
Through the Sonnentag American Foundation, the County Materials Family of Companies provided a grant that empowers girls across Southeastern Wisconsin to participate in GOTR programs, helping them build confidence, character, resilience, and the belief that they can accomplish anything they set their minds to.
With our support, GOTR serves more than 2,800 girls across more than 130 locations each year. One participant shared, “Girls on the Run gave me self‑confidence to accomplish things that might be hard in my life, and really just taught me to be brave and be strong.”
Together, we’re helping young girls recognize their potential and step boldly into their future.
