The City of Burlington Fire Department (CBFD) has served and protected local residents since 1877. Today, its combination of career firefighters and volunteer members responds to nearly 2,000 fire and Emergency Medical Service incidents annually while also supporting neighboring communities through mutual aid.
At the County Materials Family of Companies, we believe strong communities depend on dedicated first responders who are prepared to answer the call when emergencies arise. Through the Sonnentag American Foundation, we are proud to support organizations and initiatives that help keep our communities safe, resilient, and prepared for the future.
Investing in Emergency Response Readiness
With support from the County Materials Family of Companies, CBFD was able to replace critical ballistic protection equipment, including helmets, knee pads, and protective plates for aging bullet proof vests. These upgrades help ensure firefighters have the equipment needed to safely respond to incidents involving active threats or other dangerous situations.
As emergency calls become increasingly complex and unpredictable, access to modern protective equipment allows firefighters to focus on what matters most: reaching those in need and providing lifesaving assistance as quickly and safely as possible.
Strengthening Local Communities
Supporting first responders aligns with the Sonnentag American Foundation's commitment to strengthening local communities and investing in organizations that enhance safety, stability, and quality of life. By helping equip the individuals who protect our families, businesses, schools, and neighborhoods, we are supporting the long-term health and resilience of the communities we call home.
Together, the City of Burlington Fire Department, the Sonnentag American Foundation, and the County Materials Family of Companies are helping ensure local emergency responders remain prepared to serve and protect when their communities need them most.
