The Children’s Wisconsin Foundation is an independent health care system dedicated solely to the health and well‑being of children, providing a full range of services, including medical and dental care, child and family counseling, foster care and adoption services, and social services and child advocacy.
In 2023, federal and state VOCA (Victims of Crime Act) funding significantly declined, threatening the availability of essential services such as forensic interviews, victim advocacy, and mental‑health programs for children who have experienced abuse or neglect.
By 2025, more than 70,000 reports of child abuse and neglect were filed in Wisconsin, making the support provided by Children’s Wisconsin—and the philanthropy that sustains these programs—more critical than ever.
Our Impact
From 2020–2025, the Children’s Wisconsin Foundation implemented the Brighter Than Ever campaign, a comprehensive engagement and philanthropy initiative to raise funds that enhance critical services across the health system, expand access to care, and build a statewide community of advocates committed to child well‑being.
With the support of the County Materials Family of Companies, the Brighter Than Ever campaign generated over $300 million to continue powering the Children’s Wisconsin Foundation's holistic approach to care, advancing programs and services that promote the physical, dental, social, and mental health of children.
As one Children’s Wisconsin staff member reflected, “The most powerful tool in child therapy isn’t a technique—it’s a safe relationship where a child feels seen and believed.” Another added, “We don’t fix kids; we walk with them while they grow stronger.”
Additionally, our support helped expand Trauma‑Informed Care (TIC) across Children’s Wisconsin, enabling:
- Training for 300+ team members
- A wellness retreat for TIC champions and CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management) responders
- New trainers to support second‑ and third‑shift care providers
- Refined training modules designed to minimize disruption to patient care
