In 2019, &Rise was founded in Chicago by a survivor of abuse and has since grown into a powerful force for healing and change with a global impact. The organization is dedicated to empowering women who have experienced domestic abuse, providing safe and inclusive spaces to heal, learn, and grow.
With the support of the County Materials Family of Companies, through the Sonnentag American Foundation, &Rise offers essential resources, including:
- Support groups: Weekly in-person or virtual meetings led by trained survivors
- Counseling: A free 10-week program led by a licensed counselor to address anxiety and depression and create a personalized plan to overcome challenges
- Youth programs: A dedicated space where teens can develop skills to navigate health relationships
- Events and workshops: Self empowerment workshops, career readiness workshops, and fundraising events where survivors can heal, learn, and connect with each other
“Because domestic and sexual abusers isolate their victims, finding support outside the toxic environment is crucial for escaping and healing from physical and psychological trauma. Finding &Rise was very important to me,” said Carmen C., an abuse survivor. “&Rise’s safe space allowed me to share my experience and helped me understand that I am not alone in my struggle. Jennifer and her support circle help me find the strength and belief that I am capable of having a fulfilling life after a 23-year abusive relationship.”
Through the Sonnentag American Foundation, the County Materials Family of Companies supports organizations like &Rise to transform society’s response to sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse. Together, we are creating dedicated spaces for domestic abuse and sexual assault survivors to heal and reclaim their sense of joy in their lives.
