Habitat for Humanity was established in 1976 as a small home-building program. Today, it has a global network with more than 900 offices throughout the U.S. and additional operations across 60 countries. Local Habitat offices help families achieve stable, affordable housing that improves health, education, and economic opportunity.
Since its founding, Habitat for Humanity has helped more than 65 million people around the world have access to decent housing. The organization helps families build, repair, and finance their homes, while advocating for policies that make constructing and accessing housing easier for everyone.
Supporting Local Communities
The County Materials Family of Companies partners with the Habitat for Humanity chapters to bring people together to build homes and strengthen communities. Recently, we provided aggregate to fix the driveways of the Central Wisconsin homes for two elderly, low-come individuals.
One homeowner is retired, living on a fixed income, and unable to fill the holes in her driveway. The donated aggregate was used to patch the damaged areas, forming a smooth surface that allows her to park closer to her door.
The second homeowner has a medical condition affecting her ability to walk. Aggregate was installed between her garage and the alley to level the driveway, allowing her to park in her garage and limiting the distance she must walk to enter her home.
