Efficient Installation
Modular elevator pits can be installed by a team of four plus a crane operator in one day. Installation is less susceptible to weather delays than conventional pour-in-place elevator pits and requires fewer inspections, accelerating construction schedules by an average of two weeks. Combined with a precast elevator shaft from County Prestress & Precast, the pit and shaft can be installed on the same day, shaving up to seven weeks from the construction schedule.
Enhanced Waterproofing
Modular elevator pits feature a double water barrier—combining a hydrophobic admixture in the concrete mix with a roll-on waterproof coating applied after curing. Additionally, the precast production process eliminates the cold joint between the floor and the pit walls, a weak point for water penetration in conventional elevator pits. Modular elevator pits also eliminate the need for an additional waterproofing membrane surrounding the pit.
