Investing in Our Nation’s Heroes with the National Military Association

As a supporter of the United States Armed Forces, the County Materials Family of Companies, through the Sonnentag American Foundation, is proud to provide resources to organizations that enrich the lives of service members, wounded warriors, and veterans.

Many military families face food insecurity, challenges accessing child care, unemployment and underemployment, and significant mental health struggles. One organization we partner with to address these issues is the National Military Family Association (NMFA), a leading nonprofit dedicated to supporting service members and their families.

Since the Vietnam Era, NMFA has been a driving force in programs and advocacy for families, helping them navigate the unique challenges of military life. As a trusted advocate, NMFA works across every level of government to ensure their needs and perspectives shape the decisions that affect them.

NMFA’s mission directly aligns with the Sonnentag American Foundation’s commitment to helping veterans build meaningful lives after service and ensuring all who have served are treated with honor.

Strengthening Lives Across the Military Community

Working alongside NMFA, the County Materials Family of Companies supports programs that strengthen financial security, enhance well-being, and improve quality of life for veterans and their families.

Since 2004, NMFA has made a meaningful difference—awarding more than $10 million in scholarships to spouses pursuing education ranging from GEDs, PhDs, professional licenses and certifications, business and entrepreneurial expenses, and supervised clinical hours.

A National Guard spouse shared, “NMFA’s commitment to military families like ours provides more than financial support—it represents an invaluable sense of stability, encouragement, and community.”

With our support, NMFA also offers essential resources to children and teens to help them manage the demands of military life. These programs provide direct assistance with coping during deployments, managing frequent relocations, and addressing the emotional challenges that come with service.

Together, the National Military Family Association, the Sonnentag American Foundation, and the County Materials Family of Companies are strengthening lives across the military community by expanding opportunities, strengthening resilience, and ensuring those who serve and their families receive the support and respect they deserve.
