Established in 2002, Let’s Go Fishing was started with a vision to enrich the lives of seniors through meaningful boating and fishing experiences. At no cost to participants, the organization provides meaningful outdoor opportunities for seniors, youth, veterans, and individuals with disabilities who otherwise may not have access to these opportunities. Since its founding, Let’s Go Fishing has served more than 250,000 individuals.
“We wholeheartedly agree with the Let’s Go Fishing mission of enriching the lives of senior citizens through fishing and boating activities,” stated Ron and Al Linder. “Our father fished into his 80’s and it added to his enjoyment of life. We believe all seniors should have this kind of opportunity.”
Fostering Wellbeing Through Fishing
The County Materials Family of Companies partners with Let’s Go Fishing to bring the healing powers of nature to participants, as well as help develop a network of chapters and volunteers to serve these individuals across the Midwest.
Recently, we provided a donation to support Let’s Go Fishing’s local boating and fishing program. Outings typically last 2 to 2.5 hours, offering calm pontoon rides, wildlife viewing, and time outdoors. The pontoons are adapted for guests with disabilities, ensuring safe boarding and comfortable seating.
While many outings include fishing, the emphasis is on enjoyment rather than catching fish. Volunteers help with equipment, baiting, and handling fish so participants can simply enjoy the experience.
The County Materials Family of Companies, through the American Sonnentag Foundation, supports organizations like Let’s Go Fishing that are dedicated to fostering impactful connections and enhancing the lives of those within local communities.
