It can be a challenge to protect and maintain hardscape in the Upper Midwest. When Earthworks Landscape Architects & Contractors designed and built an outdoor living space for the Carberry family of River Falls, Wisconsin, they chose County Materials pavers manufactured with Sentinel Sealed Technology™ and engineered using Optimized Paver Technology (OPT).
Pavers manufactured with Sentinel Sealed Technology combine modern engineering with time-tested European innovation. Unlike other methods that apply a topical single layer primer, Sentinel Sealed Technology bonds two protective layers—a factory-applied penetrating primer and sealer—directly to the pavers’ surface during manufacturing.
In addition to an ultra-smooth finish and refined texture, it provides durability and minimizes the need for maintenance. “The pavers delivered durability right from the start,” Joel Carberry explained, "without the installers having to seal them on site and without me having to maintain the finish over time."
The hybrid proprietary process makes it the best in its class:
Step 1: Each paver is treated, allowing the primer and sealer to fully penetrate the paver's surface capillaries.
Step 2: A penetrating primer is applied and cured to form a bonded base layer.
Step 3: A protective sealer is applied and cured, forming a durable barrier to maximize surface protection and long-term performance.
Pavers manufactured with Sentinel Sealed Technology deliver maximum surface protection, long-lasting color, stain resistance, UV protection, fade and slip resistance, reduced efflorescence and poly-haze, and protection against de-icing salts.
“The only thing we hear from friends and neighbors is ‘stunning’ and that it looks like the cover of a magazine,” Joel Carberry said. “We are outdoor people, and we’ll be on the patio whenever we get a beautiful day.”
