County Materials’ expansive line of readily available hardscape products helped this patio maximize available space and offer everything the homeowners desired for their outdoor living area: a place to relax, cook, enjoy a fire and unwind in a hot tub. The exceptional styles and colors of the pavers and retaining wall, along with excellent craftsmanship makes this patio a special one-of-a-kind retreat.
The challenge of converting this backyard into an award-winning getaway was an easier task because the homeowners selected from County Materials’ variety of interlocking concrete pavers and many color options and finishes. Three styles of pavers in two color variations, and segmental retaining wall units were combined to complete this residential patio. The different colors and styles were specified to provide a unique design that separates areas into distinct spaces on the patio.
Pavers installed on this patio include: Crest™ Bullnose Pavers in Timeless color, 4”x8” Elements™ Paving Stones in Reunion color, 8”x8”, 8”x16”, and 16”x16” Elements Paving Stones in Timeless, and Destination® Pavers in Timeless. Modular Elements Paving Stones in Timeless were laid in a three-piece pattern for the largest section of the patio. Elements in Reunion separate and surround the fireplace. The space around the fireplace is filled with Destination Pavers that offer a simulated flagstone appearance. Bullnose Pavers were utilized throughout the project for their functional value and aesthetic appeal. The seat wall near the fireplace is capped with the rounded bullnose pavers for guest comfort. They also form the stair step treads for clear visibility and sure footing. Lastly, Bullnose pavers were incorporated into the retaining wall adding a creative accent band.
Tribute® Retaining Wall System units were used to create several functional features and add elevation. Situated against the house, a raised patio with an outdoor kitchen was made with Tribute units. The same units were used to build stairs leading up to this area, a fireplace, a seating area and a separation wall for a hot tub. The Tribute Retaining Wall System offered this project countless design capabilities. Units can easily be split to make custom features, and their multiple groove pin system allows for vertical, stepped out or set back applications.
