What is Colored and Stamped Concrete?

Gone are the days of choosing gray concrete for deck, driveway, patio, and porch applications. Industry research and development has evolved the world of concrete to include decorative solutions. Architects, designers, and homeowners can now select from a vast array of colors and textures to achieve any desired aesthetic.

Colored concrete creates an unparalleled look that will not fade over time. County Materials offers concrete contractors a variety of options, including integral colors, specialized stamps and integral and shake-on color solutions to enhance their flatwork. Concrete stamping can imitate the textures of stone, wood, and variety of others while providing enhanced durability and lifespan with little to no maintenance over time.

With integral concrete, colorant is combined with the ready-mix to provide a muted color throughout the application. Shake-On Color Hardeners are applied on top of freshly placed concrete and are more vibrant in appearance without sacrificing durability. Antiquing Release Colors are applied over freshly colored concrete flatwork and are used to accent and prevent the concrete from sticking during the installation process.

The Wisconsin Ready Mixed Concrete Association offers valuable technical resources for designers and contractors who provide ready-mix solutions for customers. Refer to the publication titled “Colored & Stamped Concrete” on WRMCA’s website by clicking here.
