Plum City U.S. 10 Bridge Replacement Challenges Overcame

Precise girder delivery coordination minimized traffic flow disruptions, while a temporary bridge allowed job site access in challenging landscape

In Plum City, WI, County Materials’ heavy-haul drivers and dispatch team, along with Ellsworth, WI law enforcement faced several obstacles during girder delivery for a bridge replacement project. The three parties coordinated the safe transportation of five oversized 136ft girders, combining their unique areas of expertise.

The problem solving continued on-site. Due to the area’s hilly geography, oversize construction equipment could not access the job site. A temporary bridge was installed to assist the construction team as well as maintain traffic flow.
