Financial and material donations from County Materials are helping to fund high school masonry programs across the state of Wisconsin. The High School Masonry Program (HSMP) is the result of creative collaboration between the nonprofit Masonry Technology Foundation of Wisconsin (MTFW), industry supporters, masonry contractors, and schools. The program is expected to help remedy the state’s growing shortage of masonry professionals and lack of available masonry education.
Each year, select Wisconsin high schools receive new sets of masonry tools, along with masonry-specific lesson plans. Technical education instructors also receive guidance and support from designated industry professionals. These HSMP Coordinators assist instructors in establishing a 2–3-week masonry training program at participating schools. Students then work in teams to complete hands-on masonry projects using provided tools and construction materials.
County Materials partners with the HSMP to supply and support their programs that inspire and train the next generation of masons. This year, in celebration of our company’s 75th anniversary, County Materials is committed to share 75 Stories of Impact, featuring organizations that receive funding from the Sonnentag Foundation and are part of the communities where we have locations.
