County Materials Invests in Drivers with New Heavy-Haul Trucks

In recognition of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, County Materials is highlighting how the company supports its drivers. Recently, County Materials invested in several new heavy-haul trucks, designed specifically for carrying County Materials’ largest loads—prestressed bridge girders. This summer, six new County Materials heavy-haul trucks hit the road to supply communities with trusted, long-lasting, and reliable infrastructure. This investment emphasizes County Materials’ efforts in providing the company’s drivers with the latest technologies.

“The investment of six new heavy-haul trucks speaks volumes to the company’s commitment to its team members, customers, and drivers,” said Jared Benson, Dispatch Supervisor at County Materials’ Roberts, WI manufacturing facility. “It’s a large investment that ensures world-class customer service and a top-of-the-industry working environment for our drivers.”

The new heavy-haul trucks enhance County Materials’ ability to deliver larger girders. Most recently, the trucks were utilized to deliver 22 prestressed girders in a single day to a suburb of Madison, WI. The girders ranged in length from 95 feet to 109 feet, only a fraction of the truck’s total capacity. In several upcoming deliveries, the trucks will be hauling girders up to 165 feet and 165,000 lbs., still not meeting the trucks’ total capacities. The new trucks also offer drivers other advantages such as a modern interior design and power windows and mirrors, increasing overall visibility.

“It was a great experience to see the look on our drivers’ faces when we rolled up with six brand new trucks. They’re appreciation is definitely noticed,” noted Benson.
