County Materials Helps Iowa City Firefighters Prepare for Emergency Response Situations with Precast Concrete Donation

The Iowa City Fire Department responds to nearly 5,000 emergency calls each year. To prepare for these situations, the fire department completes simulation trainings, designed to enhance technical response ability. Firefighters move through a series of replicated disaster scenarios; some of which require firefighters to move, break, and breach large structures and debris.

County Materials donates precast concrete components that are used to set up new configurations with more complex rescue missions. Since County Materials has partnered with the Iowa City Fire Department, more than 150,000 pounds of precast concrete has been donated. This year, in celebration of our company’s 75th anniversary, County Materials is committed to share 75 Stories of Impact, featuring organizations that receive funding from the Sonnentag Foundation and are part of the communities where we have locations.
