A Culture of Supporting Local Community:

Team Member Joel Gardner Volunteers to Repair Homes and Rebuild Lives

Joel Gardner, Sales Representative based in Springfield, IL, has volunteered with Rebuilding Together St. Louis to repair the homes and rebuild the lives of St. Louis, MO community members who need it most. The homes nominated for the program have accumulated significant damage and pose safety risks because the homeowners are physically or financially unable to make these crucial repairs. The organization assists those of the greatest need, which is often people with disabilities, the elderly, and veterans and their families.

Joel was introduced to Rebuilding Together St. Louis when our industry associate Millstone Weber put together a team of volunteers committed to rebuilding homes in the community. In the past year, the team has rebuilt two homes together, with the most recent rebuild in October. The project required Joel and a team member to repair a community member’s bathroom. The duo removed rotten subfloor, replaced the plumbing, and installed a new floor, vanity, and outlet in a single day. Team leader John Clark of Millstone Weber spoke on Joel’s contributions to the team and said, “[Joel} really impresses me through his work effort, drive, and care. He had absolutely nothing to benefit from volunteering and helping us on these two houses, which really speaks to his character and unselfishness. I really admire him.”

Through his work with Rebuilding Together St. Louis, Joel exemplifies our company’s Vision of Success, Stability and Support. He has proven his commitment to supporting fellow community members and ensuring their success by giving them a safe, stable place to call home. These efforts also correlate with our company’s philanthropic efforts through the Sonnentag Foundation, an organization that provides support to eradicate hunger and homelessness and offer resources to our military personnel and veterans.

Our company is proud to employ team members who embody our Vision and strive to make a difference in the communities they reside in. We commend Joel for his selflessness and earnest efforts to make a difference in the lives of others.
