When the apartment management firm, T.R. McKenzie, Inc. began the planning stages for a new apartment development in Verona, Wis., offering tenants a peaceful retreat was the main goal. Because of the development’s location on the outer stretches of Madison, the designers wanted to create a building with urban style, yet have the feel of a conventional home. This was achieved by masterfully combining Reflection Stone™ Masonry Units in Enchantment with a traditional vinyl siding. Many urban buildings today use unique combinations of trim and other materials such as masonry to create clean design lines and bold accents.
Currently the development is comprised of three buildings, with another four opening in 2018. Each apartment unit includes studio apartments, one and two-bedroom apartments, lofts and townhouse style units, to meet the style and size needs of any individual or family. The largest building on the site borders a pool and patio area that includes Reflection Stone accents on the pillars of a shelter overlooking a bar area.
The project includes Reflection Stone and the larger Reflection GRAND™ series, concrete masonry veneers manufactured by County Materials Corporation. Units were hand blended by the masons during installation. Because each series is modular in design, masons can easily lay units in random patterns, and seamlessly blend size modules. The two size modules were installed in a 75/25 blend of Reflection Stone to Reflection GRAND. This mixture emboldens the expansive masonry design and breaks up the overall pattern with larger units.
Since opening in early 2016, a stream of tenants has moved into the first three building, making the specially designed retreat their home.
