The goal for this 5,000 square foot spec home was to attract upscale buyers with a million dollar look. To do so, the builder knew that he would have to create an extraordinary home with many unique features. The masonry used in the home played a significant role in meeting this goal.
The builder chose a County Stone® Old World Tumbled masonry units with the look of hand cut natural stone, in contrasting shades of custom colors. County Stone offered natural-looking beauty and durability without the expense of traditional materials such as natural stone or brick.
Multiple techniques were used to give the building a unique, highly dimensional appearance. The exterior masonry blocks were staggered for a striking, highly textured look. Each window is accented with a soldier course of brick veneer and a panel of differently laid stone underneath. The use of arched and oval windows lends a circular motion to the front of the home. This rounded look is repeated in the arches above the garage doors and again in the unusual circular flow of contrasting stone around the keystones and corners of the home.
The striking exterior sets a theme that is carried into the interior of the home, as well. County Stone masonry units were also used to create the focal point of the living area: a ten foot wide fireplace visible from the dining room, kitchen, office and foyer.
