County Concrete Supplies Load-Bearing Concrete for Daily Reporter Top 20 Pick
MARATHON, Wis. (April 8, 2002) - The Brown County Jail and Juvenile Detention Center is among 20 outstanding projects selected by The Daily Reporter for its annual competition that seeks out the best construction projects in Wisconsin.
County Concrete supplied all of the load-bearing concrete masonry units for the 229,600 square foot, two-story building. Concrete masonry, along with precast plank floor and roof, and precast wall panels create a frame with exceptional strength and form that work with an architectural design intended to look more like a professional building than a jail.
The Brown County Jail and Juvenile Detention Center is among the many construction projects making County Concrete a preferred supplier of concrete masonry and related construction products, including prestress, precast, and pipe in the upper Midwest. County Concrete Corporation, a family-owned business for over 55 years, has manufacturing facilities and HomeScape Studios in 14 locations throughout Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota.
The company's PCI-Certified facilities in Roberts, Eau Claire, and in Maple Grove, Minn., and work on the Hiawatha Light Rail Tunnel, have gained recent attention in newspapers, web sites, and industry trades including Concrete Products, Midwest Construction, Western Builder, Construction Bulletin, and PCI Journal.
The Daily Reporter's Top 20 Projects of 2001 will be featured in this month's special section insert.
