MARATHON, Wis. (May 19, 2004) – County Materials Corporation is entering a new partnership this spring with Wausau Habitat for Humanity to help significantly reduce the costs of constructing homes for local low-income families.
County Materials is donating ready-mixed concrete for the foundations of modular houses being constructed by high school students from the Mosinee, Wausau and D.C. Everest School Districts. Wausau Homes also has agreed to donate building materials for the Habitat student-built homes. With the generous efforts put forth by industry and education, Habitat for Humanity plans on having four student-built houses underway next year.
“We’re proud to support our local Habitat through a program that brings together individuals in the building industry who want to offer their resources to make life better for others,” says Bob Wells, County Materials ready-mix manager. “This is an excellent program because so many benefit from it.”
Wells explains that students in their technical education classes get hands on experience in construction and take great pride in the homes they build. “As a corporation, we feel good about giving to such a worthwhile cause because supplying the homebuilding community with quality masonry is a major part of what we do,” he says.
