County Materials Helps Renovate Lambeau Field
MARATHON, Wis. (June 7, 2002) - County Materials Corporation in Appleton is assisting in renovating the 43-year old Lambeau Field, the most highly-regarded stadium in the NFL.
Since November of 2001 County Materials's Appleton plant has been manufacturing gray masonry block and shipping between five and ten truckloads a day to the construction site. The entire redevelopment of the facility will use between 500,000 and 700,000 concrete units to provide loadbearing backup for the surrounding walls.
County Materials is also supplying 36,000 of its Premier Ultra® Burnished Masonry Units in Light Caramel color for the stadium's exterior and lobby areas. Burnished units are concrete block with one or more faces ground to expose the variegated colors of the natural aggregates, then sealed with a coating which accentuates the attractive highlights of the dark and light aggregates. Architects specify Ultra Burnished Masonry for its durability, diverse color selection and textures, and variety of shapes and sizes.
The $295 million renovation of Lambeau Field that started in 2001 will add roughly 10,000 seats, restrooms and concessions and expand the concourse. Another component of the project includes a five-story atrium, a stadium club and administrative offices. It's expected to be ready for the 2003 football season.
