MENOMONIE, Wis. (Aug. 28, 2006) – Dozens of students of construction materials and science at the University of Wisconsin-Stout will benefit from a donation of informational packets by County Materials.
The family-owned, American company, headquartered in Marathon with locations in nearby Eau Claire and Roberts, provided 20 booklets detailing the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design® Green Building Rating System™ , and 20 packets detailing masonry water repellents and the role they can play in environmentally conscious construction.
“A donation like this benefits the industry as a whole,” said County Materials Marketing Director Rebecca Sonnentag. “ It’ s important to have the most skilled, educated professionals possible in the field.”
LEED® is a voluntary but stringent program that awards points to building projects based on attaining certain goals aimed at reducing a facility’s environmental impact as well as its long-term utility bills. Concrete masonry can contribute significantly toward the Green Building Rating System.
