EDGAR, Wis. (Nov. 2, 2006) – When Edgar High School hosts Eau Claire Regis in their WIAA Division 6 Level 3 playoff at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, visitors to the football field will get to make use of new facilities made possible by the generosity of a local company.
County Materials, headquartered in nearby Marathon, donated more than 1,700 concrete masonry units that comprise the new concession stand and restroom facility at the south end of the grounds. County Materials provided 300 cubic yards of ready-mix concrete for the renovated area, and donated 900 concrete pavers to add a classy finishing touch.
“We’ re based in a small town, so we understand what a community gathering high school football games are in this area,” said Rebecca Sonnentag, Marketing Director for County Materials.“ Plus, we have a history of contributing to masonry educational programs, in a variety of capacities and at several levels.”
Edgar (10-1) is the seventh-ranked team in Division 6 and the No. 3 seed in its bracket, taking on an unbeaten Regis team (11-0) that is both the bracket’ s top seed and state’ s top-ranked D6 team. The victor will face the winner of the Shiocton-Stratford game for the right to go to state.
