Architectural students to benefit from $1,000 donation
Marathon, Wis. (Jan. 11, 2007) – More architecture students will be able to develop their education within the state, thanks to a $1,000 donation by County Materials.
The Wisconsin Architects Foundation recently thanked the family-owned concrete construction materials manufacturer for its donation. WAF president Lawrence Schnuck added that the money will help the WAF further support scholarships for architecture students. The foundation also waged a successful campaign for a state school of architecture and helped restore a national historical landmark in Madison.
The WAF will provide $32,600 in scholarships, educational grants and public-outreach programs. The foundation also helps elementary art teachers incorporate architecture into their curricula, encourages high school students to participate in an annual architectural summer camp at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and it provides leadership training for interns and young architects throughout the state.
“Supporting the next generation of architects and designers benefits the industry as a whole,” said County Materials Marketing Director Rebecca Sonnentag. “Which is why we’re active in supporting the WAF and masonry programs around the state.”
